In 2025, the Platte Canyon Area Chamber of Commerce sharpened its focus, aligning its efforts more intentionally with the needs of both the local business community and its nonprofit members. The Board recognized that our region’s challenges are not one-dimensional—businesses, nonprofits, and residents each face distinct issues requiring targeted, strategic responses. It became clear that some community needs extended beyond the traditional mandate of a chamber of commerce. To address those broader priorities effectively, the creation of a complementary organization was not just beneficial—it was essential.
That vision became reality in 2025 with the formation of the Platte Canyon Foundation, an independent nonprofit dedicated to advancing five core pillars: Community Development, Education, Health & Safety, Recreation, and Workforce Housing. Under the leadership of Kim Mickelsen, Anna Painter, Liz Biggs, and Mark Linné, the Foundation held its inaugural meeting in late 2025, establishing a strong framework for sustainable, long-term impact.
Today, the Foundation is actively identifying priority community needs and supporting initiatives that strengthen the Platte Canyon area. Its initial efforts center on strategic fundraising, grant acquisition, and donor engagement, while building collaborative partnerships with local businesses, philanthropic leaders, government agencies, and community organizations.
The goal is clear: to create measurable, lasting change for Bailey and the greater Platte Canyon region. The Platte Canyon Foundation represents a powerful new vehicle for community investment—an opportunity for individuals and organizations alike to make a meaningful and enduring difference.
